Over the last two weeks I have had the opportunity to host a Chinese exchange student from Hubei Province. He is from the large city of WuHan, the capital of Hubei. Hubei is located in central China but on more of the eastern side, there 13.6 million people reside.

The exchange student participated in all of my classes and also had the opportunity to sit in a 3D printing class. He traveled to some nearby schools to give a presentation of some basic Chinese words and about his culture.

We both bonded during our short time together. I introduced him to all of my friends where we would make jokes in our classes. I had never laughed harder in a class ever. This was my favorite moment together when me, him,  and another classmate were asking about him and learning all about him.

I asked him how he liked America and if he liked American schools. He said he liked American schooling. It is much shorter than his but still allows for much learning. He also said he was surprised at how outgoing the students and people of America were. Overall, he said he enjoyed his trip and mentioned it was fun.

It was an interesting but amazing experience to have the opportunity to host a Chinese exchange student. Hearing about his culture was eye opening especially when it comes to the differences in schooling. I am forever grateful for the experience of hosting and would totally recommend it to anyone. It is a great way to learn about another culture whilst making a great friend.
